Fit a Fashion Brand to your Lifestyle with Polo Ralph Lauren

“Personal style is about a sense of yourself, a sense of what you believe in and wearing what you like. “

- Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren, otherwise known as Ralph Lifshitz was born in the Bronx in New York. He was Jewish origin and attended a Jewish day school until he graduated to a mainstream high school. Here it was clear that Ralph had high aspirations for the future as he sold ties to his peers and wrote underneath his photo in the yearbook that he wanted to be a millionaire.

Ralph went on to study business at college but dropped out to join the US army for two years. Later he married Ricky Anne Low-Beer, a receptionist in New York. Ralph never attended fashion school. He worked for a while as a sales man for Brookes Brothers, and then with the financial backing of Norman Hilton, he opened a small necktie store where he also sold his range of ties under the name ‘Polo’. He later bought this name from Hilton to be his own.  In 1970 he launched a men’s clothing range, and shortly after came the first women’s collection which took the tailored idea of men’s clothing, but made it slightly more feminine and delicate. The polo emblem became the iconic image of the brand and was first featured on the cuff of the tailored women’s suit range. Shortly after the polo mesh shirt was released showcasing the logo on the front and was made in 25 different colours, which is now the Ralph Lauren classic.

By 2007 Ralph Lauren had 35 boutiques in total in the United States. As of 2011 Ralph Lauren is worth an estimated .8 billion dollars; he clearly underestimated his anticipated millionaire’s status when he left school! Ralph always made sure that the quality of his clothing is impeccable and that the brand maintained the status of a high end luxury item. The fine materials and sturdy polo shirts combine heritage, performance and style offering something for every lifestyle choice.

Ralph Lauren has redefined American Style with his exquisite and exclusive range. He caters for men, women, children and the home. His ranges also embodies the idea that fashion does not just stop at parties and on the runway with the introduction of the sporting range, he showed that you can be stylish no matter what you do with your day. Ralph’s range of sunglasses also represents the elegance and class of the American women and the style being influenced by their lifestyle. Some of the protective eyewear holds the famous logo of the polo player which symbolises the iconic brand and makes them stand out from any other collection of sunglasses. The rich and lavish lifestyle that is seen in the Ralph Lauren collections often comes out in the sunglasses range as they make you feel individual and significant. The exclusive designer shades offer a high end label but are still good value compared to other designers today.
