Following the house of Valentino’s surprising couture collection, widely regarded as an attempt at being edgy (and with varying opinions on how well designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli succeeded), Valentino’s longtime partner, Giancarlo Giammetti, wrote on Facebook, “We have always supported the new designers and we love them, but this time we have to distance ourselves from this ridiculous circus.” But yesterday he closed that distance by attending their ready-to-wear show in Paris. He explained:
“Sometimes in life, you don’t agree with your son or your daughter, but they are still your son or daughter … I always will support this company.”
Right, just because you’re arrested for smoking pot doesn’t mean your parents shouldn’t go to your piano recital. Giancarlo said he intended his Facebook rant to remain private, adding, “Someone leaked it to the press.” That just shows how much of a parent he is. Facebook isn’t a journal, it’s an opportunity to show your shit off to the world.
